Adarsh Home

Vihar Samaj Kalyan Sansthan (VISKASAN), a voluntary, non-profit making, non-political, non-religious organization, is established in 1983. The organization is registered under Societies Registration Act. 1860 in the year 1989. It is founded by dedicated social workers, intellectuals, educationist, medical consultants with a sole objective of geriatric care services at state Jharkhand. VISKASAN is working for sustained socio- economic status and dignity of elderly in the society with particular emphasis on the aged who are the poor, neglected and distressed. For that the organization is rehabilitating the most needy old aged people at organisation’s Adarsh Home (OldAge Home) and creating awareness among the mass to love and respect the elderly.

An Institution of complete solution of aged problems.

  • Facilitate Productive ageing.
  • To provide care and support to the destitute aged and protect human values and dignity in the society.
  • To strengthen organisation’s existing infrastructure in proper managed way to provide better possible services to the people in need.
  • To strengthen capabilities on issues pertaining to older persons of local bodies, state Government, NGOs and Academic Research Institutions.
  • To rehabilitate the most needy old aged people at organisation’s ADARSH HOME (a Free OldAge Home) and create awareness among the mass to love and respect the elderly in the society.
  • To make society aware of issues concerning to the aged and promote their better understanding for the aged.
  • To improve the level of awareness among the older persons to access their rights and entitlements and social security and to have grater access to the benefits.
  • To access problems and design interventions to carry out the advocacy for the concerns of the aged with the older persons at local government as well as district level.
  • Today’s neonate or elders are tomorrow’s aged, thus aged must be duly regarded and served.
  • Non consideration of cast, colour, creed, sex and politics, only can establish community cordiality.
  • Considering old is gold, due to their expertise and tolerance, utilize their service in social development.
  • Aged will get un-interrupted honour, service and dignified care.
  • Free from caste, colour, creed and religious community barrier will reflect mutual human cordiality, affection and humanitarian touch.

The construction of Adarsh Home is started in 1998 and completed in 2000 and then the elderly started residing since 2001.

The Adarsh Home is located at Village- Kulgu, Via – Piska Nagri, Block - Nagri, District – Ranchi in the state Jharkhand, India.

Residents of the Old Age Home are aged (male & female)above 60 yrs., who are destitute, resource less, the widows/widower and the most neglected in the society. There is no caste and religious barrier. All of them are living harmoniously in a familiar atmosphere without any congenial feelings. The organization provides them free services viz. shelter, nutritious foods, medical and heath care facilities, recreation and working opportunities to utilize their lifetime experience for the generation.

The Home has the capacity of 50 residents but we are unable to rehabilitate all 50 residents. The inmates are still awaited because the organization is in financial crises since its inception. The organization is not receiving any financial support from state Govt. or Central Govt. of India to run the Home. It is being run by generous donation by helping hands. Presently the Home is lacking the following necessary things :

  • Nutritious Food
  • Medicines for Health care
  • Ambulance for Referral services
  • Kitchen and Dinning Hall
  • Prayer Hall / Mandir for the residents
  • Help Line for the elderly
  • Boundary wall of the campus
  • PCC Road within the campus of Home
  • A Rural Hospital for geriatric medical health care services to the residents at Adarsh Home as well as people from the neighboring tribal villages in the area.
  • Irrigation pond for proper vegetable gardening and horticulture development
  • Elderly Resource Center/ library in the state Jharkhand
  • Guest house
  • A Children Home to attach the children with Adarsh Home residents
